This is easier said than done, but… stop telling her she’s told you. She doesn’t remember, and having her mistake pointed out to her just makes her feel defensive.

It sounds like you are having a hard time. In the short term, maybe you can have your husband's clothes be for day and night--sweatpants, for instance.
