February is for Love

February's observance of Valentine's Day on the 14th causes many of us to think about love this month. For a caregiver of a loved one with dementia, the relationship changes as a person's dementia progresses. Early in the caregiving journey, it may be helpful to create meaningful moments of togetherness with your loved one to help solidify the bond. Creating life story projects together is one such activity.

This Book is an Act of Love

In reading Forget Me Not, it is clear that the author Debra Kostiw has a deep passion for the topic of dementia caregiving. This book is a genuine work of the heart. Kostiw has taken a very personal situation in her own life and used it for the good of all caregivers. Find out more about why you should read this book!

Special Considerations as a Spouse

If you are a caregiver that is also a spouse to a loved one with dementia, the challenges of caregiving are unique as well as similar to those in other caregiving relationships. David, who is a husband to his wife with dementia, talks about some of his personal experience in this video clip found in our St. John's Dementia Resource Center playlist.
